Read the cancellation policy while you still have a choice
A weather-sensitive activity is a reason to read the terms before paying, not only when a forecast changes. Start with the policy attached to the selected service and the booking terms accepted at checkout. The seller’s current policy applies a cruise-operator or group schedule only when it is shown on the service page or in the written terms and accepted before booking, so a general tour table may not be the whole agreement.
Save the version supplied with your booking. A photograph of good weather, a flexible itinerary note and a cancellation schedule answer different questions. None should be used as a substitute for the others.
Understand what starts the notice period
The current public policy counts cancellation notice when it is received in writing. The point at which you began thinking about cancelling or mentioned a concern to another traveller is not the same event. Use the contact channel stated by the seller and include the booking reference, departure date and request.
Keep the message and reply together. This provides a practical record of what you asked for and when. Do not assume that removing a calendar entry or not appearing for pickup communicates a cancellation to the booking team.

Compare conditions, not just percentages
The policy distinguishes refund tiers from an unconditional guarantee and discusses recoverable supplier funds and excluded transaction costs. A percentage in a table should therefore be read alongside the accompanying explanation, not copied into an expectation of a particular payment without the booking being assessed.
For a real cancellation, ask for the statement applying the confirmed conditions to your case. This article does not calculate a refund, interpret legal rights or establish insurance cover. It explains how to avoid comparing an isolated headline with a more detailed contract.
Distinguish a changed activity from a cancelled service
Weather or authority decisions can alter a route, a water activity or the whole departure. Those are different situations. Ask which service is affected, what can still be delivered and what alternative is proposed. The current terms address safety-related changes and separate onward costs.
If your own preference is to cancel while the departure is operating, identify it as your request. If the operator cancels, keep the operator’s written notice. An accurate description of the event helps the team address the right policy question without promising an outcome in advance.
Make the wider trip visible
Consider any separately booked hotel, bus or flight alongside the cruise policy. A change to a day tour does not automatically rewrite another reservation’s conditions. If a particular connection is essential, tell the team before confirming the activity.
A useful pre-payment check is simple: selected service and date, correct cancellation conditions, how to send notice, what is being purchased together and which services remain separate. Reading those items early lets you choose a booking whose actual conditions you understand, rather than relying on a general impression that a bay day will be flexible.
Questions answered
Is the standard refund table the only condition to read?
No. The current policy applies an operator or group schedule only when it was shown and accepted before booking; check the schedule attached to your service.
Does a weather forecast alone establish a cancellation outcome?
No. Identify the operator’s actual decision and your request, then apply the conditions confirmed for that booking.
